Meet the Staff


CTRC (SW) John W. Moon USN, (Ret.)
Commading Officer

Chief Petty Officer Moon graduated from high school in 1983. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1984, he reported to NAVSECGRUACT Misawa, Japan as a Non-Morse Collection Operator. He then reported to NAVSECGRUACT Sabana Seca, Puerto Rico and was assigned as the 51 Division (CORALINE) Watch Supervisor.

Next, he reported to NAVSECGRUACT Northwest as a Direct Support Operator/Supervisor. While stationed at NSGA Northwest, Petty Officer Moon amassed over 800 days deployed on the USS John F. Kennedy, USS Cushing, USS San Jacinto, USS Biddle, USS Mississippi, USS Ichon, USS Guadalcanal, USS Richmond K. Turner, USS Hue City, USNS Stalwart, SPECWARGRU 2, and USCENTCOM.

After a very successful DIRSUP tour, Petty Officer Moon was assigned to the USS Cape St. George (CG-71). While on board, he qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, and was promoted to Petty Officer First Class. His next assignment was at the Crypto logic Services Group, Joint Staff, Pentagon.

Following the Joint Staff assignment, Petty Officer Moon transferred to Direct Support, NSGA Norfolk. While at NSGA Norfolk, Petty Officer was handed selected for a Joint Services operation at NSA/CSS. While assigned to NSGA Norfolk, Petty Officer Moon was selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer. Chief Moon reported to NAVINFOWARACT, and assumed the duties of the N5 Advanced Projects Department Chief.

Chief Petty Officer Moons personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal (2 awards) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), Good Conduct Medal (6 awards), National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal along with several other unit commendations ribbons.
